This event is now over and it was a huge success with #SaveDaredevil trending worldwide all day in 13 different countries, surpassing more than 65k tweets, along with ‘Charlie Cox’ (~11k tweets) and ‘Daredevil’ (~2.5k tweets). We also passed 400,000 signatures on our official petition during the course of the event! To relive some of the posts of the day, visit our Twitter page @RenewDaredevil.
And while this event may be over, the #SaveDaredevil campaign continues to plan future initiatives now that the Daredevil rights are officially back with Marvel and Disney. To stay on top of future updates, you can subscribe to our mailing list or follow us on Twitter.
On November 29th, 2018, the hopes and dreams of a huge fandom, a supremely talented cast, a hardworking crew and genius creative team were dashed when Netflix unceremoniously canceled one of their most popular and critically acclaimed shows in the middle of preparing for the production of Season 4. To make things worse, it was revealed that Marvel would not be able to do anything with the characters from Daredevil for two years.
It’s been a long, hard fight, but those two years are almost up, with the rights to Daredevil reverting back to Disney and Marvel on November 29th, 2020. Although Marvel has the power to bring back the cast, creative team and crew so that they can continue to tell their TV-MA stories, we have no idea what their plans for Daredevil are.
So on Sunday, November 29th, from 10am-12pm Eastern Time, we’re inviting the Fandom Without Fear and Daredevil fans around the world to join us on Twitter and other social media platforms to amplify the #SaveDaredevil hashtag worldwide and remind Disney and Marvel that the fans want to see OUR version of the Daredevil character return with Charlie Cox in the role, and the series revived with the same cast and mature rating. If there was ever a day to make a lot of noise, it’s this one!
how to participate
STEP #1:
Be prepared to post
We will begin posting at 10am Eastern / 9am Central / 7am Pacific and plan to be active for at least 2 hours. If you’re not in the US, use this handy time zone converter to figure out the corresponding time for your country. If you’re unable to post live on Twitter, we highly recommend using the built-in tweet scheduler or Tweetdeck to schedule your posts ahead of time.
step #2:
Use the right tags
For Twitter’s hashtag tracking and trending purposes, only use one hashtag - #SaveDaredevil. You can include other important keywords, just leave the hashtag off (e.g. Charlie Cox and Daredevil instead of #CharlieCox and #Daredevil). For our followers on platforms like Instagram and Facebook, there will be fewer restrictions for your posts, but we encourage you to post on Twitter first as that will be the most visible and impactful platform for tracking participation.
And as long as your post has space, we encourage everyone to tag @MarvelStudios, @KevFeige, @Disney, @Hulu and related accounts, too!
step #3:
Plan your content
This is the time to share why you want to see Daredevil revived with the same cast and mature rating in a positive way - and don’t be shy! We’ve created new graphics specifically for this event (available further down this page). If you prefer, you can always grab our older graphics and overlays on our Resources page. Also, feel free to use your own graphics, GIFs and videos if you have them, especially since including an image on your post will help with engagement.
step #4:
Engage with #SaveDaredevil posts
Not just with our posts, but with those of other people posting about #SaveDaredevil too! Leave likes and comments, but more importantly on Twitter, retweet, or even better, quote tweet. This is crucial for increasing visibility on the hashtag and the right type of engagement on tweets will help get our numbers up. Include #SaveDaredevil in your replies and additional tweets to further add to the visibility and count!
If you want to post for more than two hours and turn November 29 into Daredevil Day, we'd love to see it!
