daredevil: born again production pauses, then gets a new showrunner

In what has turned out to be a tumultuous month, we hear that the production on Daredevil: Born Again was paused as Marvel let go of Chris Ord and Matt Corman as head writers and were seeking to revamp the show. Then a few weeks later, we hear the news. Variety reported that Dario Scardapane has been hired as the new showrunner for Daredevil: Born Again. Scardapane was a writer and executive producer on Netflix’s Punisher series, so he is someone already familiar with the Netflix universe. From all reporting so far, it appears that TPTB have sky-high expectations for DD:BA and want the tone of the new show to more closely resemble its Netflix origin. Let’s just say we are all cautiously optimistic by the changes. Ord and Corman will reportedly stay on as executive producers.

We also had Charlie Cox make an appearance as Matt Murdock/Daredevil in the first episode. What an amazing series this turned out to be. All three of these characters have quite a comic book history. You can listen to Team Saved Daredevil talk about the appearances and the show on this episode of #TalkDaredevil. There were also cast interviews on the MARVEL STUDIOS ASSEMBLED: The Making of Echo episode on Disney Plus.

daredevil: born again is a direct continuation of the original series

The writers and actors strike may have been the necessary break the DD:BA production needed. According to Forbes, the revival went through a total overhaul during the break and a retool was done of the direction it was originally going in to bring it more in alignment with the original show. This means new showrunner, more familiar faces, as well as the OG show being brought into the MCU fold. The revival is now considered a direct continuation of the original series. This can be confirmed by the fact that all of the Netflix Defenders shows have now been added to the official Disney+ Timeline Order.
